Happy birthday Ashcan, you are still loved and missed. R.I.P.

We talk a lot today about players being warriors, but Ashbee truly set the standard.

Bill, even without the invite to the summer camp...Do you see any other prospects with a shot at the final roster? Laberge or Allison?

Thanks Bill for putting up some fun reading during these slow days of summer.

Also, thank you to all the regular posters who post so I have something to read during my downtime at work.

I'm not Bill, but I can't imagine any of this years picks making the Flyers 16-17 roster. In fact, the only prospect IMO, with a better than 50/50 chance of making the club in October is Provorov. However, I do think that Morin has a very good shot at coming up to stay at some point during the season.

I think the WJC roster was meant not the Flyers roster.

oops, my bad.

Canada: Konecny is a lock as Bill said, probably won't see anyone else make the final squad unless a goalie or 2 gets injured opening the door for Hart

Sweden: Lindblom and Sandstrom should be there.

Russia: Rubtsov is a stone cold lock

Tomek may get a shot with Solvakia, but I'm not sure what division they're in.

I think Myers and certainly Hart have good shots at Canada's roster with strong first halves. Goaltending is such a sore point lately with Canada, if he looks like a legitimate star like the hype is alluding to, he will be there.

I think Lindblom is too old for Sweeden but I could be wrong.

Voroboyov could be there for Russia as well.

They don't have any A/A+ under-20 prospects outside of Konecny and Provorov, but there may be a few guys who could sneak onto teams with big first halfs.

I believe this is Lindbloms last year of eligibility but I could be wrong, LOL.

Forgot about Myers (seems to be a theme around here), yup, with a strong 1st half, he'd definitely have a shot. Hart though has 2 or 3 guys firmly ahead of him, mainly due to age/experience, but if he really dominates in the first half or someone gets hurt, he certainly has a shot.

Now that Hicketts is too old, maybe Canada will bring some of their lesser defensemen

Joe Hicketts is a fine defenseman. His coach overplayed him (and others), which was one of the reasons they lost. Playing any player for more than 80% of OT, unless that player is Wayne Gretzky or Bobby Orr, is just plain bad coaching.

It's not so much hating on Hicketts as it is hating on his coach' favoritism.
